Beets for Strength!

Did you know that beet juice can make you instantly stronger? A recent story on National Public Radio detailed medical studies that showed that a small serving of beet juice increased participants’ muscle power and velocity, including one that found a 13% boost in muscle power immediately after drinking!

These nutrition-packed root vegetables are an excellent source of folate and a good source of fiber, vitamin C and potassium. Beet tops are an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium and a good source of calcium, iron and copper. They also provide antioxidants.

So look out for colorful beets in our Produce Department. We have red beets and golden beets, which turn a golden orange when cooked and are slightly sweeter than red beets.
