Ideas From Our Staff To You

We’ve collected some tips and tricks from our staff to make your holiday easy and delicious!

“If you’re making apple pie, you don’t have to use just one kind of apple—mix it up! And leave the skins on for extra color in your dessert.” --Jen M, Produce

"Turning your brine into a marinade gives your turkey a wonderfully juicy end result with a kick of flavor. Don't forget to turn the pan drippings into delicious gravy!" --Angela, Deli
Recipe: Lemon-Mustard Turkey Marinade

“Use any extra sage or other unused fresh herbs from your cooking to make a refreshing, relaxing bath sachet. Place herbs in the center of a big square of cheesecloth, tie it up with some twine, and drop in a hot bath.” --Heather, Wellness

“Roasted veggies are simple, easy, DELICIOUS, and impressive.  You can roast almost anything—think asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, broccolette, cauliflower, kale, fingerling potatoes, carrots, fennel, or delicata squash slices. Just slice pieces into your choice of size, or leave whole if they’re small (like Brussels sprouts or baby beets), toss with olive oil, salt and pepper and some sprigs of fresh herbs, and roast at 425 degrees until tender.  So easy and so good.” --Shelby, Produce

"If you're making gluten-free gravy, cornstarch or arrowroot powder make great thickeners, in place of flour. Our cornstarch is certified Organic!" --Laura, Bulk

“Cooking your turkey with the Helmet Method helps retain moisture, especially if you’ve brined your bird (if you have, pat the bird dry first). After seasoning, cover it with foil and follow the cooking times that came with it. Remove the foil one hour before the bird is done so the skin doesn’t get soggy—the meat will finish moist and tender.” --Wayne, Meat & Seafood
