Regenerative Agriculture: Farming That Gives More Than It Takes

Q: Can food actually reverse climate change?

A: If it’s grown with Regenerative Agriculture, it can.

We are now highlighting companies that have made a commitment to Regenerative Agriculture, a collection of practices that focus on building soil health. Farmers who use these methods not only refrain from doing things that would release carbon into the atmosphere, they also encourage plants and soil to suck carbon out of the atmosphere.

“Reducing emissions alone cannot solve climate change. We must draw down hundreds of billions of tons to succeed, and restoring our soil is the only known path to do this,” said Andre Leu, President of International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM), in an press release about the new definition of Regenerative Agriculture created by representatives from over 100 countries, including virtually all areas of food production, manufacturing, retailing and soil science have

The companies below all use and encourage regenerative agriculture in one way or another. We will be highlighting them in the store and also in a series of posts about the most interesting efforts to use food production to restore the soil and climate.
